Virtual Education Leaders to Convene
FRANKFORT, KY (April 11, 2000) -
The Kentucky Commonwealth Virtual University (KCVU) will host the first ever International
Virtual University CEO Summit to be held in Lexington at Marriott's Griffin Gate Resort April 13-14. The
summit will bring together more than 30 virtual institution leaders to discuss trends in online education
and to establish networking opportunities.
With the explosive growth of online higher education, new virtual institutions are rapidly
emerging to meet the demand for a quality alternative to campus-bound learning.
"This gathering brings together the highest caliber talent and experience among virtual
university leaders from the US and Mexico," said Mary Beth Susman, KCVU chief executive officer.
Susman said among the topics participants may consider include: establishment of a virtual
university CEO professional association; multiple transfer and articulation agreements; multiple financial
aid consortia agreements; exploration of shared curricula; and, a group-authored paper on 21st century
education for publication.
Keynote speaker for the summit is Mr. Barclay Knapp, President and CEO of NTL, Inc., a
leading communications company in the United Kingdom.
